Hon. Victoria Campbell Announces Re-Election Bid for Orange County Family Court Judge

PORT JERVIS, NY – Sitting Orange County, NY Family Court Judge, Hon. Victoria B. Campbell has declared her candidacy for re-election, kicking off a campaign touting her experience ahead of next November’s county election. She made the announcement at a December 28 campaign event at The Erie Trackside Manor.

Orange County is within New York State’s 9th Judicial District, where two Family Court seats will be open come November due to Campbell’s first ten-year term expiring and the retirement of another Family Court judge, Hon. Carol Fine. Judge Campbell has presided over the County’s Family Court since her election in 2016. Since then, she has heard more than 13,000 custody, visitation, abuse/neglect, juvenile delinquency, adoption, and destitute children cases.

Campbell has also served as an acting County Court Youth Part Judge since her appointment in 2018, during which time she has collaborated with the Office of Court Administration to implement protocols and handle felony proceedings under the “Raise the Age” law. She has also served as an Acting Supreme Court Justice since 2019, when she was assigned to preside over post-divorce judgment contempt, enforcement proceedings and uncontested matrimonials, as well as Mental Hygiene Law hearings and reviews.

Prior to these roles Campbell served as City Court Judge in Port Jervis, NY from 1997 through 2014.

“As Family Court Judge, I regularly hear sensitive cases that impact children’s quality of life and influence the futures of families. It’s a responsibility I’m honored to be trusted with,” said Judge Campbell. “My work has also allowed me to positively impact how our county treats juvenile and adolescent offenders by implementing corrective actions and procedures. Giving youth opportunities to turn their lives around is why I’m seeking re-election,” she continued.

As the election season progresses Judge Campbell will continue discussing her experience and the successes of her first 9 years in office at campaign events throughout the county.

Judge Campbell has a 27-year record of commitment to public service. She has served as Orange County Family Court Judge since her election in 2016. She also serves as Acting County Court Youth Part Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice. Having been a practicing attorney since 1987, she has experience on both sides of the bench and began her judicial career in 1997 as City of Port Jervis, NY Judge. Her passion for Family Court comes from having raised five children and watching her five grandchildren grow.
